    1. Loved these short and very descriptive essays about the people of Puerto Rico living in New York and also in the Island. I feel so much empathy with the Puerto Ricans, even when they have a lot of setbacks, but those only make them more interesting. My favorite essay of the book was the one about the author visiting the island ("Down on the Island" pp.35-66) and describing Santurce and the old city of San Juan. He can really paint the world with words.
